Finally summer’s right around the corner!

Time to bust out those flip-flops, swimsuits and get out there!

We all apply sunscreen before heading to the beach, to the pool or just going outside to get some yard work done.

But wait – not all sunscreens are created equal.

Believe it or not, sunscreens can contain gluten.

Ugh, not again. Not another thing to worry about.

Rest assured, we’ve got you covered!

The Mayo Clinic states that individuals with Celiac disease are still able to use gluten containing  lotions, shampoos, etc. as long as they are not ingested. Interesting news. This holds true even with dermatitis herpetiformis, a form of Celiac disease that causes an itchy rash. This form of Celiac disease is exacerbated by ingesting gluten, not by being absorbed through the skin.

With that being said, it’s still best to use caution when choosing a sunscreen for people with Celiac disease or for those who have a gluten intolerance. The risk for potential ingestion of sunscreen is greater because sunscreen sprays can inadvertently become consumed. Or when sweating in the sun something is bound to get in your mouth.

It would be best to opt for the gluten free ones.

After extensive research, we’re bringing you the top gluten free sunscreens to keep you having fun in the sun!
